Came home from nursery with nappy soiled

Hey all, first time posting here but looking for advice. I was shelling out a lot for a reputable nursery in north London, but I'm having major second thoughts after recently picked him up from nursery and realised he had a soiled nappy. And it was not a fresh one. Now, I understand mistakes happen, but this is like the third time this has happened and he overall had only been there a few months. I was wondering whether this is typical in other people's experiences? Did you speak to the nursery?

I'm also questioning how truthful they are about how much my son eats there. When I've asked they usually say he's eaten well but he always comes home hungry? And I'm aware children can present and act differently at nursery, but he really is a slow eater and I'm just worried they don't give him enough time to eat at his pace.

This happened to DD1 twice. The first time, i didn't say anything as I thought maybe it was an oversight (silly of me in hindsight). But when it happened again, I wrote to the manager, explained what had happened and ask how they could make sure it wouldnt happen again. She was extremely apologetic and wrote back with an action plan on how they were going to make sure it would never happen again. Plus the member of staff who did hand over that night apologised in person. I was very reassured with how they dealt with it.

Raise it and see how they respond but it could be that he's settling in and only feels comfortable to go at home time. So the nappy gets very soiled very quickly. I know with both dc they frequently soiled their nappy between the nursery and home when they first started. And despite having three meals and snacks still ate again when they got back!

How old is your son?

He's nearly 3 now, so we're actually going to be potty training him after the holidays so this may be a short lived worry. I was just worried that it might be indicative of a lack of care!

Thank you for this. For more context, he is quite regular and goes after his tea. The times it would happen were only when the more senior member of staff wasn't there, I was thinking the agency staff may be more busy and less aware of his regular signs that he displays when he needs to do his business, timings, etc.
