Childcare entitlement on UC for a 14 month old?

I'm getting super confused and wondered if I could have any insight on childcare when on UC.

I have a 14 month old and want/need to go back to work just a few days a week. The childcare. I'm self employed and do not know how much I will earn returning to work so the gov website calculator seems useless? Do I have to get a code or can I claim costs through my UC. I really want to go back to work towards us not needing help so please no judgment believe me I wish I didn't need to claim for help with it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You can do both. Claim the funded 15 hours (if eligible) and claim up to 85% of the remaining costs from UC (again if eligible). I say if eligible as I don't know your income etc but this is possibly.

Look at the childcare choices website. This takes your details and tells you what you might be eligible for. There are certain criteria for the 9mth and 2yo 15hr funding. I think you can get a certain amount back off UC which is a separate entitlement.

With UC you pay the childcare that needs paying for, upload the invoice and bank statement to prove you have paid it and then they reimburse you up to 85% in your next payment.

Go to childcare choices to see the best option for you 🙂

UC entitlement depends on your income so nobody can say if you’re eligible.
