Should I change my child’s nursery?

My daughter attends a nursery and has done for nearly 2 years.

Previously my son went there and 3 years after he left she started. Most of the staff where the same staff who had looked after my son and had been there for years. However the nursery had been taken over from an independent nursery to one of the larger nursery franchises.

Within a few months the long term staff all started leaving and all said it was down to new management and the way it was being run and the demands were unreasonable and comments on understaffing and bitchyness from the managers.

They were without a manager for a long period of time have had a sacked manager and another who seemed really good but never passed probation which seemed like she didn’t do things exactly as they wanted.

Since my daughter has been there every new memeber of staff taken on has also left. New staff have been taken on but most staff are bank staff from the other nurseries in the group.

My daughter seems happy at the nursery but my husband wants to pull her out and put her elsewhere as he thinks something isn’t right there

Anybody else had similar experiences?

That sounds really bad. Has she had lots of changes of key person? (Do you know who her named key person is? With bank staff coming and going...) Have they had ofsted recently?

And how old is she? It may not be worth settling her into a new setting (or possible) if she's going to school next September, but if she's 2 it will be fine.

Yes I would agree with your husband that it would be sensible to move her. The lack of continuity in staff and the fact management is obviously not addressing issues would raise a lot of alarm bells.

How long has she got left there before school?

What chain is it?

I went to see another nursery this week and gave her current nursery the relevant notice period.

As she is a September baby she has a full 2 years of nursery still.

The new nursery is closer to home, is bigger and just had more of a buzz and atmosphere the staff have been there between 5 and 20
plus years. My daughter loved it there and keeps asking when she is going to her new nursery hopefully she settles in nicely 🤞🏼
