I am moving to Woking towards the end of 2007 and going back to work when my daughter will be 1 in January. Does anyone have any knowledge/recommendations on a day nursery? Will be completely new to the area!

I can reccommend a really good nursery in guildford just next to woking near the A3.
My son attended there last year, very low staff turnover so you always see the same people and lovely homecooked meals.Lots of extra activities as well.

Hi
This site is useful for finding good nurseries. Good luck!

Tiggerish · 23/04/2008 20:50

My ds went to the montessori one (Christopher Robin I think it was called). We were very pleased with it but it was a while ago now.

Woking Day Care (Asquith Nursery) Great Manager & team, very very good for the money.

Lardie · 24/07/2008 21:36

We are considering putting our d into either Teddies or Daydream Nursery in Woking - does anyone have any comments or experience of these places (good or bad)?

Is it usual for a nursery to ask for a deposit in addition to a months fee in advance to be held for the duration that your child is at the nursery and then offset against the last months fee?

Afloss · 27/07/2008 14:19

hello. Yes its very usual to do this(to ask for a months deposit), in fact all the nurseries in the area do it. Two other good nurseries in woking are toad hall in woking and Toad Hall in Ottershaw (especially the baby room).I have been a temp in both. The teddies nursery baby room is very good, but the room after it has bad staff turnover and also ratios are not kept at lunchtimes. I worked here for a few days temping, and I would never send my child there. But as I say, the baby room is nice. Daydream is ok. Also some nurseries, if you pay by direct debit will only ask you for a fraction of the nursery fees as a deposit, both toad halls charge £150.00 and a £40.00 non refundable registration fee. Good luck with your choices

Done several tempin jobs at nurseries in and around Woking.

Top Nurseries i have seen in the area are:

Caring Daycare in Sheerwater
Noah's Ark (Caring Daycare) in Worpleston
Pennypot (child base) in Chobham

Nurseries Definately not recommended are:

Drayton House - Guildford
Fitzsimmons - Guildford
Teddies - Woking
Toadhall - Ripley
Little Cherubs - West Byfleet

Good Luck

Thanks Angel!

What about Christopher Robin, Woking or Toad Hall, Woking?

toad hall woking is very good. But big waiting list being created so be quick. Maybe book a visit? they are usually flexiable. Christopher robin... wasnt so impressed.

Dear AngelNanny

I used to work in Godalming and so my three year old attended the Teddies in Godalming. We live in Woking and since I will be starting a new job in London, we were thinking of transferring son to Teddies Woking- can you suggest some other good nursery since you are strongly discrediting Teddies Woking? We have had a very good experience at Teddies Godalming but now not sure abt Teddies Woking based on your post.

Caring Day care in Sheerwater (Woking) is excellent and cannot fault it in anyway.

Pennypot in Chobham is also great, as is Noahs Ark which says is in Worpleston but is right on the edge so is really Mayford, next to Old Woking.

I also would not recomment Asquith nursery at David Lloyd in Westfield (Woking) but the guildford Asquith nursery is lovely.

Good Luck with your search happy to help if you ever need it.

Toad Hall in Woking i have not had inside knowledge off for a long time but recently when visiting the soft play there i could see into the nursery garden and although in staff child ratios the 3staff were sitting ing a circle in the garden whilst the childreb were playing and weren't really watching the children, a few of the children wondered around the corner and started fiddling with broken toys stacked up, eventually one member of staff dragged the children away by one arm. This is only unpleasant thing iv seen but could of just been an off day for the staff, don't no i was just an onlooker.

Christopher Robin i am unsure of childcare, i think it may be ok, only thing i know is some staff leaving due to other staff bitchyness. Should be fine with childcare.

Always recommend looking at OFSTED reports as well as being very aware at visiting.

hf128219 · 08/01/2009 22:47

Staff bitchyness can happen in any organisation - it is the realibility of the childcare that is important.
