Has anyone heard about any problems getting new child places in Gatreshead nurseries?

I have a 2.3 old ds and a 5 week old dd, I?m looking to start my ds in a day nursery 2 mornings a week. I feel he needs socialising with other children his age as we don?t really have any contact with other children.

Also, I would then be able to use this time to take dd to clinic etc. I am considering starting a new business so I would be able to do admin and he would be settling into nursery which would be advantageous as he would need to start going to a nursery 2 full days if I was working.

Anyway to cut a long story short....

I contacted a local day nursery the other day and was told that no Gateshead nurseries can take on ANY new ?pupils? until the local elections are over in July? Is this the case?

The lady didn?t go into any more detail so that?s as much as I know.

Can anyone enlighten me/recommend any nurseries?

Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

There's a lovely one in Birtley off Durham Road, I think they have spaces!

I am a student there and know for certain that new kids have joined within the past week.

It's Village Montessori on York Road.

Also don't let the name fool you, whilst some aspects of the montessori method are used, it is very child-centred and the children can move around to the activities set up.
