Hi everyone , Hope all are doing good. I need some advice regarding Nursery for my 3 yr old. We are a bit confused whether to go ahead with private nursery called Clever clog nursery (position available) or to go with nursery attached to primary school (waiting list for months ). How is that nursery wen compared with Busy bee nurseries.? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Have you looked around both of them?

In my experience there's no specific advantage in going to a nursery attached to a school over anywhere else - you won't be more likely to get in if you apply to the school, for example (although might depend which country you are in). They will all be following the same 'curriculum' - the Early Years Framework (this continues in Reception at school).

Which is nearer to you/easiest to get to? Do either of them have a high staff turnover? What's the vibe like, is there outdoor space, what is the food like?

Is there a difference in price? What is the illness policy etc?

All things to consider.

Hi thank you for replying. Yeah we have looked at both of them. So , we too thought of going with private nursery. We are in UK Newcastle and Durham side, were Busy bee nursery and Clever clog nursery both are popular. We are a bit unsure where to make him join. Both these nurseries looks okay to us. We wanted to know the personal experience from group members about these nurseries.
Thank you

I advise going to the 'local' section of Mumsnet where others near you will be posting. However I'm not sure how much traffic it gets
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/local

Otherwise, post again on Chat/ Nurseries but put the names of the nurseries in your thread title and ask for people with experience of them.

@Brightpearl the school attached nursery will likely be term time only, what would you do for the 13 weeks of the year that are school holiday?

JDob · 26/08/2024 19:49

You can do both, different times, obviously. Depends what you need.

Mangoandbroccoli · 26/08/2024 19:53

As well as the school one being term time only, it's also likely to be school hours (9am-3pm) as opposed to private nursery hours (8am - 6pm). Our school one also allows us to use the 15/30 funded hours with just a small additional fee for snacks, whereas our private nursery one deducts "15 hours" from our overall bill, but this doesn't equate to exactly 15 hours, as the private nursery charges more per hour than the government offers per hour in funding. The funding also only applies to term time, so the 'free' hours are still charged during holidays (but spread across the whole year, if that makes sense?)
