For those who only use 30 hours free childcare, how much do you pay for consumables each month?

Currently I use 30 hours free childcare. However, my son goes to a private nursery full time and its costs me over £1000 extra month.

I am looking to change my circumstances and become a TA for three-four days a week. And spread the 30 hours over the 3-4 days. However, I know I will have to pay a consumables charge. Does anyone else do similar? Can you let me know your average cost of consumables each week/month?

We pay £7.50 a day for food. And we can get out of that by sending food in, and then it would be £0. Our nursery is one where if you do 30 hours, in term time only, you really can get it free.

@DancingPhantomsOnTheTerrace is it a nursery connected to primary school?

No

1.90 per hour. So £19.60 for a full day using funded hours.

£2.50 a day for lunch. Term time only was entirely free. Top ups for breakfast and tea clubs, and holidays. But those were entirely optional .

£2.10 per hour

I’ve used/ still using funded hours at a private nursery (8-6, 51 weeks a year) and pre school (9-3, term time). Nursery charged £15 a day extra. Pre school charge £5.50 for the lunch hour.

Is it a 10 hour day, OP? Some nurseries will have “sessions” meaning that three hours in the morning and three hours in the afternoon are “free” but they won’t let you use more than those 6 hours in any one day,
