Average year nursery fees

I gave a months notice for pre school as my children will be starting a new one in September. Current nursery financial year is from September-September. The nursery do an average monthly payment to help with budgets. After I had given notice (in June), I have been informed that I’ll still be charged for August despite them finishing in July due to the average over the year. I understand the concept but find this a little harsh. What would they have done if I’d taken them out at Easter or Christmas? Anybody experienced similar? Do I legally have to pay despite following their conditions for given a months written notice? Any advice appreciated. Thank you

Is it a term time only setting?

Whenever you gave notice they would have worked out how much you'd used vs how much you'd paid. Its not unfair if you've used more than you've paid for, is it?

That sounds about right as there probably won't be actually any fees in august BUT because it's been averaged over the year you would have been paying for childcare already received.
