2.5 free nursery days....does it have to be all mornings or all afternoons?

Does anyone have any experience of state nursery places from aged three being, say for example, mon, tues, fri morning then thursday all day?

I realise most nurseries and parents want either 5 mornings or 5 afternoons, but the above option might be really helpful to us....

Anyone got a similar experience?

you can use the vouchers to suit you - but there only covered for term time - so you hav to pay through all holidays whether there or not. (this is in a private nrsery)

In school nurserys they don't normally let you choose it's oneo the other as they don't have the failities to cover for lunch etc.

it would be in a nursery school....and lunch time wouldnt be a problem as he could come home.....

popsycal its up to you how you use the vouchers. I know with dd i used them 2 full days and one half day but with d s he oeis dpoing 4 mornings. Places are quite flexible about it I have found (private nurseries this is though) State nurseries is usually either mornings OR afternoons, i found thats why i stuck with private as it worked better for me

he is at childminders wed-fri amd my mum has him here mon and tues
from spet, hopefully it will be mon and tues grandma here, wed childminders, thurs and fir ME!!!
So the nursery school here is best (4 days out of 5)
childminder lives too far away to take him to nursery...

My ds2's nursery will let you do any combination of times you chose - if they have the spaces.

My DS recently started at a pre-school. I did ask about if he is entitled to 2.5 hours a day funded by sure start but they said no. I know lots of other peoples children that receive the funding, just thought I'd ask. DS is at this pre-school until July.

Kid, how old is your ds? He should get the vouchers from the term after he is 3 eg my dd turned 3 in October so she gets the vouchers starting this term.

In Sept, he will be offered a full-time place at the nursery school where I work. I don't mind paying for him to go there, it is just what he needs!

Well you should be able to use the vouchers against some of the fees there. Thats what I will be doing at dd's private nursery. The only thing is they only cover school terms though so you wil still have to pay full during holidays although some nurseries work it out pro rata.

The nursery he will be going to in Sept (when he is 3.5) will be free of charge. Once they turn 3, you don't have to pay. It isn't a private nursery, it is part of DD's school. He should only be starting part time for a term but they have said he will be offered a full time place. He won't be my little baby anymore!
