Is it bad to pull out of a reserved place to change nurseries?

I reserved a place at a nursery (and paid a hefty deposit to do so!) but we've found another nursery that we like better and is much much cheaper (enough to offset the lost deposit within a month).

I feel bad about pulling out of the other place, although it's still several months away from when we were due to start. Their cancellation policy for children once they've started nursery is 4 weeks notice, so we'd be well within that. Is it a bad thing to do for the nursery, or will it be ok with enough notice.

It’s fine, that’s what the deposit is there for, to cover their lost income.

Do what's best for your child and for you, not the nursery.

They’ll have no difficulty filling the place, I expect. Do what’s best for you.

As long as you're fine with loosing your deposit, they won't bat an eyelid. They have months to find someone else to take up the place and most places have a waiting list anyway.
