Scratches…

Hi everyone. All my kids have super dry skin from birth. I have eczema. My children have flare ups but rarely. After my first DC (10) and my own experience, I learnt to manage it successfully for myself and kids. 2.5 year old had a flare up last night (itching tummy, behind knees and abdomen sides). Exhausted this morning due to lack of sleep and harsh scratches all over tummy. Nursery has requested a letter from GP because they found the scratches alarming. She is not diagnosed with eczema though? Are they just looking for a confirmation that scratches are normal for people with super dry/sensitive skin? Isn’t that readily available online and common sense? I will be calling GP today for her…but feel this is so unnecessary as I am managing fine and happy to buy my own products (prefer this) compared to being prescribed. They made me fill one those injury forms…So:

Those with DCs with Eczema/dry skin/dermatitis etc - have you needed to clarify itching scratches in this formal
manner?

Nursery staffs - do I need to provide a letter every time she itches herself causing scratches? I would really detest that…

She is verbal so will request me to itch her ‘please itch mommy…’ and looks at the scratches saying ‘look mommy booboo’.

Thanks everyone!

I have two DC with eczema, I've never been asked for any info or a GP letter but then they have been sent in with prescription creams on numerous occasions so perhaps that's enough to get it on record.

Poor little thing, it does sound like she might need a steroid to ease the flare up so hopefully the GP can prescribe something that works for her.

@CelesteCunningham

When I speak to the GP today, I will ask them for prescription and give it to nursery. Whilst my other are quite mild - maybe this is a sign DD2 is a better more serious…when she jumped out of bed this morning - I was like where is your pj bottoms?? I can’t remember if it was me or her who took it off for relief and access…poor thing. Thank you!
