....and gave all the children some chocolate bunnies and a Cadburys creme egg. Does anyone else think getting a creme egg from nursery is inappropriate? I am not opposed to treats but a creme egg is just a big ball of sugar, which my 4 year son definitely doesn't need to get him going.

ds got given chocolate egg at group he goes to today - was very plain (and thin) hollow milk chocolate egg - gave him a thrill and was an ok treat to have after lunch

would not have been chuffed about a creme egg - they are full of shit, too filling for a preschooler and just too damn sickly

28% sugar is less than a lot of children's breakfast cereals.

(I'm not convinced it is only 28% though - I think it was 28 grams "per pack size" with an egg being 39g...)

i think you are oner-reacting. it is a nice gift....it is fairly common practise. do you want a ban on all cheap plastic tat on the grounds it is destroying the earth. fair-trade chocolate egs would be great but expensive.

nah, they're too sickly for me to want my preschooler to get the taste for
much too sweet
whether or not I like them myself is another matter entirely

Seriously, unless they are serving creme eggs for breakfast every day you don't need to worry. BabyDragon has scoffed the creme egg, a hollow egg I couldn't prise out of her grasp (and didn't want to endure the 20 minutes of crying which would have ensued causing both her and me anxiety and distress) and quite possibly some more... she still wolfed all her lunch, dinner and some pizza for supper and went to bed without a murmur. She does not get chocolate or sugary treats every day so I'm not worried.

(The mini ones are a far better balance of sickly to chocolate IMO, Aitch It also occurs to me that had I weaned BabyDragon on chocolate and creme eggs life would have been far less stressful... (

me and dh were posl at dd afterwards, she ran around the park for an hour non-stop. i think it's the most amount of sweet stuff she's ever had (with the possible exception of ice-cream). if she got more of a taste for chocolate maybe our potty-training plans might go better?

well, perhaps i have an enormous jamie oliver like tongue but i can't schlurp the fondant out of the mini ones which is The WHole Point of the creme egg for me.
