Hey,

  • Broadhurst have had a change in their Principal role. Any views on this and if things have changed at all?
  • Seems 2y olds spend 8.30-3pm each day. That’s a long day for little ones. How have your little ones coped with such a long day at BH?
thanks

not too sure but doesn't look great generally as previous hm left in mysterious circumstances. 8.30-3pm is totally fine. remember most are actually older than 2 and very few are actually 24-26 months. they also have a nap for the younger kids. food is very limited if that's a concern for you (l.e. no cooked lunches directly from school).

Why did she leave?

I'm afraid I don't know but it's all very mysterious

Hello there
I thought it might be helpful to set the record straight about me leaving Broadhurst School. The circumstances were in no way mysterious. I had been the Head for seven and a half years and decided to take early retirement. I am now spending more time with my granddaughter and new puppy and enjoying a slightly slower pace of life.

In the middle of the academic year? May I respectfully ask why you didn't wait at least another term so as not to disturb the children or create anxiety in parents, particularly those going through assessments ?

Perhaps it’s because she is a human being with her own needs and wants, and decided to leave her job for a slower pace of life like many other people do? She’s perfectly entitled to do that, at a time that suits her 🙄

I just cannot get my head around the audacity of this question.

Respectfully, it it absolutely none of your concern about this ladies life choices.

Yes!! Absolutely agree.

Generally in the academic world, a head leaving in the middle of the academic year is never seen as a good thing (whether for early retirement or not) and there is usually a story behind it. So whatever the official story is this does seem to be something strange. All the more strange is that the retired head is following mumsnet and posting on this topic.

Anyway after having dealt with Broadhurst and what I consider unethical practices I am not surprised. See from Facebook post. I am sure BH will try to get this deleted.

Dear Parent.
Re: Broadhurst School - Notice to Cease Funded Nursery Places
We are writing to you regarding your child's entitlement to 15 hours of funded early education. The national free entitiement scheme requires that 15 hours of funded sarty education are delivered without the need to purchase any additional hours of services.
Broadhurst School have been using the Govemment funding as a deposit for nursery fees and reimbursing you at the end of the term, taking £100 for processing and administration fees which is in breach of the Govemment Legislation. While the school can charge a small deposit to secure the nursery place, this must be returned within a reasonable timescale.
The school have confirmed to us that they are not able to deliver the 15 hours free nursery place at the point of delivery in accordance with the legislation and therefore Camden Council, who work as agents for the Govemment on the delivery of free early education, have had to make the decision to remove Broadhurst School from their list of free entitlement providers.
The funding for your free nursery place at Broadhurst School will cease at the October half term. If you wish to continue to access a free nursery place you will need to find an alternative childcare provider. I have attached a list of providers local to Broadhurst School that may have vacancies for this term.
If you would like assistance with finding an alternative nursery provider please contact either the Family Information Service on 020 7974 3522/5642 or you can contact the Free Entitlement Team on 020 7974 7145/2088/5715 e-mail [email protected] who will be happy to help.

Agreed!

Also that letter certainly says something about how they conduct themselves... though it appears to be a number of years old and things may have changed...
