Nursery seem to have adopted a really strict temperature policy, this is the second time in three weeks.

I KNOW she's just teething.

Grrrrrrrrr.

have they given calpol?

Dynamicnanny · 10/03/2008 15:31

Have you thought about having a nanny - so that she isn't sent home everytime she has a temperature.

talkingmongoose · 10/03/2008 16:04

Yes, calpol didn't bring temp down enough, but I bet it would have been fine if they'd taken temp 20 mins later. She's been playing happily at home most of the afternoon.

Nanny is out of the question, I'm part time and earn £8.00 an hour, nannies don't get out of bed for that amount, do they? (there's meant to be a grin emoticon here, but my square bracket doesn't work)

That is silly. Most babies get hot when teething. I know you said you can't afford a nanny but what about a childminder , much more flexible.

jelliebelly · 11/03/2008 15:29

What is the nursery policy for temperature? - if she seems otherwise happy then could you ask them to wait half an hour and take it again if you don't want to/can't collect her immediately? If Calpol didn't work she must have had a pretty high temp - we had a similar thing with ds but he used to get v.grumpy with it so I didn't mind having him at home.

send baby neurofen. It works faster than calpol.

Carnival · 11/03/2008 15:35

Kiskid is right about the Nurofen, it seems to work faster and last longer for my DD

Talkingmongoose, sorry to hear your poor darling baby is teething , cant believe a nursery would send her home ,because she had a tempreture, especially as they knew she was teething.
Im a nanny and i would get out of bed for less than that amount . There are some good childminders too, who would gladly take care of your baby too.

tigger15 · 26/03/2008 12:19

Check if the nursery are taking off her clothes as well as giving calpol/nurofen as this helps bring temps down and should do it within the required time. Our nursery just needs to see that the calpol is doing something and ds is happier to be content.
