Hi Chequers

A fellow MK lady! not many of these around at the moment!. My daughter goes to Happy Days nursery in Loughton.

I am very very fussy when it comes to nurseries. We used to live in London and only moved to MK last summer. When I was in London I did like DD's nursery but every now and again I did have some concerns (eg: sometimes she had quite a lot of accidents..I know toddlers are accident prone but still; sometimes her nappy would not have been changed for a while...staffing problems...them excluding children for filmsy excuses etc) although this was supposed to be a good nursery.

Since DD has been at happy days (don't know why I keep thinking "happy feet") she is wel...Happy really. She absolutely loves it.
She has been going for 7or 8 months now and I have nothing but good to say about it. She has never had an accident, she eats well, they never ever forget to give her her medecine). The only concerns I had were about staff ratio first thing in the morning (as the staff are coming every 30 mn in stages so at one point the ratio might not be met).

They really do a lot of activities and are very creative: they cook, paint in the summer they go for walks etc...but you can tell a lot of effort goes into it.

I have dropped by on numerous occasions unannounced to take DD to doctor and I have to say that I have never seen anything I didn't like (eg: a little one in a corner on its own). The staff are fab

Right I will stop raving. Honestly I am very demanding and I never though I would find a nursery where I would be 100% happy with the care, but I did. They really encourage LO to become independent and I really think it is a nurtering environment.

Any more questions let me know

PS you didn't give birth at MK general by any chance?

absolutely envious of you both living in MK, I moved away from there 5 years ago and often wish I could come back.

Loughton Nursery I have heard is very good. Still looking at house prices hoping that one day I can afford to move back. My 2 were born in MK general and I had no problem there. Off to search Right Move again in the hope I can find a bargain

DD is 2 and a half and really I am so impressed with them. They are nice, caring and creative, and more importantly I have dropped by unannounced several times and have always been impressed by the activities they were doing at the time and never concerned. Sometimes I would like to be a little mouse to see what they do all day. Today they had a dressing up day. And in the 7 months DD has been there she has not been excluded nor had and accident. There is not a huge staff turnover, so the kids know the staff well.

I am due in june.

When I looked for DD's nursery, there was one which had really good ofsted reports I think in Shenley Church or Shenley lodge, but I never went to check it out as I needed one near the station (I commute to London).

There is nothing wrong with planning ahead (I booked DD's nursery space when I was 3 months pregnant) especially with babies as numbers are limited. That reminds me that I need to book the place for DS to be, may be out DC will be "classmates"!

I am planning a home birth myself as hospital doesn't seem very good and from the little I looked bedford was the same (but I haven't done a lot of enquiries).

I like MK a lot although I don't know anyone yet because I work in London (and because of long day and commute I don't have anytime to do any activities which would allow me to meet people). I like MK though it is an easy town to live in and I like the redways etc... The only pb is I don't drive which doens't really help things in MK, but I will do it after DS...I really really have to.

In London it was different, I lived on the outskirts where quite a few of my friends were living, I was walking to the nursery with other mums etc so it was more sociable, but I just don't like doing the "london thing and the commute anymore". I would love not to have to go there anymore

The one you are seeing in Shenley must be the one I was thinking of. Anyway choosing a nursery is a personal thing so you should go and have a look and satisfy yourself that it is the best place for your DC.

Yep I will definitely take you on the offer of getting the instructor's details nearer the date. I need to sort myself out.

I might very well fancy some company when I am on ML, and it seems we are not very far from one another (even without car!).

Don't know if you know about them but there are some good aquanatal classes (people will think I get a take of the profits because I keep recommending them). They are really good.

Off for the weekend and won't log until Tuesday

Have a good weekend

needahand · 11/03/2008 10:46

Chequers, chocolatespiders, yes that is the classes I am going to, they do them in Newport Pagnell, Northampton and possibly somewhere else. The website is sandyyoga. I am sure you will find it easily.

Chequers: I don't know how to do that but I'll use a thread to call you when we are both on maternity leave and I am sure we'll bump into each other on the threads in the meantime anyway!

Hi Chequers

Wasn't ignoring you I just thought I would check on your thread and saw that! Will e-mail you when I am on maternity leave (can't wait actually). How are you anyway? Did you decide on the nursery?

Also forgot to ask you, when are you due? Are you on ML yet?
