Any one else paid their last nursery fee last month?? I am so happy, I could cry!!!!

We're RICH now 😂😂😂

Already sorted out our hours at work so that we don't have to worry about wrap around childcare. Ahhhh, there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel.

For those of you who are still in bondage, I wish you GOD-SPEED. You too shall see the light very soon 😃

Omg so jealous 😂
still have 2 years 2 weeks and one day to go. Not that I’m counting 😝

ocean123 · 16/08/2023 10:51

But happy for you of course ☺️

ReeseWitherfork · 16/08/2023 10:52

1/3 starting school in September, so we’re getting there haha. But “free” hours for the other two kick in next September so it’ll be cheaper than. Although still eye watering.

Forgoodnesssakewhatnow · 16/08/2023 10:53

I remember this with DC1. I think about it every few days with DC2 but am determined not to wish away the next 18 months when he’s in such a bloody lovely phase.

My plan is to put half the fees in savings once it stops ready for university for them.

JaukiVexnoydi · 16/08/2023 10:54

Oh my poor sweet summer child.

It gets so much tougher when you are juggling to deal with school-related issues. Nursery was a breeze, as you were the customer.

ReeseWitherfork · 16/08/2023 10:54

The universe thought it was funny that I was dreaming of the extra money though, what with mortgage going up so much and (everything else).

katmarie · 16/08/2023 10:55

We have one year to go. I'm counting down haha.

A million times this!!

School hours and issues will now rule your life and throw banana skins under your feet.

Jamtartforme · 16/08/2023 10:57

Me!!!! I get a whole 6 months off before DS starts 🙃

ocean123 · 16/08/2023 10:57

I have a question, we have a May baby, and the funded hours will kick in the September after 3rd birthday (so 3 months of being 3 before finding - DH didn’t realised this until yesterday and was so annoyed lol)
but what about October babies?! Has that happens to anyone? That must truly suck?!

I think they would kick in January then? I'm not sure though. I have a summer born.

DD''s birthday is 6th September and she didn't get funded hours until the January after, so 3& 5 months

“Newborns are so hard….”
”Just you wait until they’re toddlers and the tantrums start”

”Toddlers are so hard….”
”Just you wait until they’re at school and your life is a logistic nightmare and school admin takes over”

”School aged children are so hard….”
”Just you wait until they’re teenagers and they’re emotionally charged”

”Teenagers are so hard….”
”Just you wait until they’re young adults and you never know where they are or if they’re safe”

”Young adult children are so hard…”
”Just you wait until they’ve got their own children and you’re expected to help look after them”

…and continue until death.

To those people I say a very mature: blaaaah blah BLAH.

Forgoodnesssakewhatnow · 16/08/2023 11:09

Sure there’s holidays etc to deal with but compared to the stacks of cash nursery costs I’d still say it’s far preferable so don’t believe it’s doom and gloom.

OMG, this made me laugh so hard but it is so true!!!

My DSs' infant school had a female headteacher and deputy and both had families, but somehow still couldn't get their head around working mothers who couldn't drop everything to be at the latest last minute.

Rubbish (in my experience).

Youngest dc is 6 and I haven't had one single issue at all.

We use school wraparound when needed, which costs us about £50 a month. In school holidays he goes to the local leisure centre sports clubs which he loves and costs us £12 a day.

Far, far easier and preferable to paying £40 a day for nursery!

Congrats op! Don't let anyone kill your buzz because it's a bloody great feeling!

Ah so it’s January also… ok so nobody should have to wait a full year. 5 months is still quite a wait though!

Tumbleweed101 · 16/08/2023 11:25

Funded hours for England:
Born sept- Dec funding will start spring term from Jan.
Jan- Easter - funding will start April for summer term.
April- Aug - funding will start in Sept.

You wait longest if you have a late April baby.

Oh ok makes sense. I probably only remembered what it is for my own child lol

Ohmylovejune · 16/08/2023 11:39

I still remember my last childminder fee of £450 which was the same as our mortgage at the time. You don't forget it very fast...... my youngest is 25!!! 😆

spitefulandbadgrammar · 16/08/2023 11:45

DD 4 is late April, which really sucked! Felt like we were waiting ages for the hours to kick in. She’s starting school next month and I’d be delighted by the difference to my bank account as we only need after school wraparound for 3/5 days by juggling some shifts around, no breakfast club… except then DS will be in nursery stealing all my £££. Bloody wish it were as cheap as £40 a day! At least he was helpfully December-born so will get his hours earlier.

Sunshineandgin · 16/08/2023 13:06

2nd April baby and no funding until the September, cut off is 31st March!

We have a mid April baby and I was always peeved about this!

Pebbledashery · 16/08/2023 13:38

YEP, paid my last set on August 1st!!
DD5 will be in wraparound care but it is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper and I will be saving £500 a month!!!
