Funding form submitted late

Hi each term nursery send home the funding form for the subsequent term. We usually submit it straight away but this time didn't die to being away. I got a message through their app on 23rd reminding me the form was due by the 24th. I completed it that day with the intention of taking it in that evening but got held up at work so DH picked him up. I put it in his bag for the next day, DH did drop off, I had told him it was the last day for the form and it was in his bag.
He claims to have no knowledge of this.
I have just emptied the nursery bag to give it a clean and found the form.
Of course I have emailed the nursery manager, but they won't reply until tomorrow and I am panicking they are going to charge us full price for the summer term. We can't afford it. We pay nearly £370 a month for him to attend for 3 days on top of the funding in various fees and additional charges. Without the funding it will be £750
Does anyone know what happens? I reconfirmed on my government gateway amount etc on time for the codes, the form just hasn't gone into the nursery and now it's over a week late. They've not said anything when we've dropped off or picked up this week, or emailed again.

I think it should be fine. The council do a final “headcount” a few weeks after the start of term (funding is given a term in arrears I believe), we had a situation where we had to claim funding late after a last minute change and it wasn’t a problem because it was sorted before final headcount.

It says in block capitals on the cover page of this form is not submitted by this date you will NOT receive funding. I'm really hoping this is just to stop people dilly dallying. He's been there since he was over and we've never missed anything, we always pay as soon as the invoice comes in and submit the forms straight away. I'm kicking myself DH

How did you get on @Fundingform ?

Danikm151 · 05/04/2023 02:25

The code doesn’t change so nursery shouldn’t need you to do a form each term as long as you reconfirm on the childcare website 😊

Nursery will have a headcount day that they enter on all the children attending and funding details. It's on a date set by the council.

In my area it's about a week into the new term. Hopefully you still have a little bit of extra time. The code and form are really important though.

The code doesn't change but you do have to confirm continued eligibility to receive funding. People's eligibility can change so it doesn't automatically continue if you don't go through the headcount process.

Yes the headcount date is set by the local council and not something the nursery has control of. We don’t allow the forms to go home though (except in exceptional circumstances) and catch parents at drop off/pick up to sign and sort the forms for the reason you’ve given - we had too many forms go missing or not returned in time.

Sorry, I lost this thread! All was fine, nursery were a lot less concerned than I was. DH took it in the next morning. Funding is in place and DS got our first choice primary school, so good news all round.
