Is it okay to ask to change days?

DD is starting nursery very soon but through something that has come up I need to change one of her days to a different one instead, is it cheeky for me to ask this already? I would wait until a space came up and can sort something until then, but I know there’s a notice period to change days but is it okay to ask this so early?

It's definitely ok to ask as long as you accept they may need time to accommodate. Our nursery has always been as flexible as they can be and we've changed DD's hours a few times.

if you don’t ask it’s always a no :)
I would ask, and as you say you may have to wait until space is available. But they might be able to do it right away. it’s ok to ask though.

You can ask, it doesn’t mean they can accommodate you right now though.

Booking full time then asking for a couple of days is considered rude.

Asking to switch days... they will usually accommodate if and when they can.

Yes your just asking to switch a day. The nursery still gets the same money etc so it’s not a big change for them.

however FYI @PuttingDownRoots I did not realised it was considered rude but maybe depends on how it’s done? When I signed LO up for nursery I did say I was hoping to drop a day or two at work and they told me book for full time as it’s easier to drop days than to add days. Also because I didn’t know which days I would have off work. Maybe they were ok because I told them beforehand it was a possibility ? Ive only managed to drop a day at work (financially) but informed them of this already (still months before start date)

We are flexible and wouldn't mind anyone asking at any time as we are quite aware situations change. We may not be able to accommodate a change to a busy day immediately but babies move to the next room once they are 2 so we could predict when this would happen for that day to have a free space.

Of course it's OK to ask. They'll understand situations change and will facilitate as much as they can. Don't worry about it 😊

OK to ask, but they might plan years in advance so it might not be possible.
