Nursery funding if using two nurseries

nurseries attached to schools that take kids from 3 - do they only do funded hours?
Or would you still pay for some… for example when LO is 3 we can get funded hours at the nursery we will be using soon and the days are longer , so can get 2.5 days free.
So if we were to use 3 days we only pay half a day… and then possibly could send LO a day to the school one and pay for that?

Or would it be the other way around? Ie funded hours at school nursery and just pay for hours at current one…
or can funded hours be used in 2 places?
or just one which means you might not use all funded hours depending on minimum days for each nursery…

(just thinking ahead as would need to figure out after care when at school nursery, so though it would be easier to keep LO in private nursery for the most part…)
maybe a silly question but just trying to usher tabs how it all works!

OK lots of questions, some of which I don't understand what you're asking. Some answers can only be given by the settings as they will have their own rules.

But yes you can split your funding over two settings. I don't think many school nurseries will allow 1 day a week though.

Oh thank you for your answers. Much more clear than my questions lol.
Yes I should probably ask the nurseries for more info too thanks.

School nurseries take the universal 15 hours ...if you have any funding left you can spend it with another setting....nursery or childminder. You would then pay the difference. But I don't know of any schools taking less than 15 hours.

It's different by county in Wales so I think you'll have to have a look at your own council website.

In my county in Wales it's split 12.5 hours at school nursery (2.5 hours a day morning or afternoon sessions) then 17.5 hours at a childcare setting. We don't pay anything to the school but pay the childcare nursery to take the kids to school and feed them etc.

We can't go to school nursery for any more and they encourage you not to send them for any less. So we can't change the split between school and private.

It'll probably be totally different where you live so the only thing you can do is check your own council. Its really confusing - good luck!
