Returning after mat leave

Long story kept short - I work in a nursery and about to return after mat leave. My little one is booked in to start. Unfortunately I need to work and have DC in childcare, but I don't want to return to working in childcare myself, but I also can't get DC into any other nursery as the waiting lists are ridiculous around here. Does anyone know what the rules are regarding leaving myself and whether my DC would still have a place there? Or is it only dependant on me returning.

I know the best place to get a straight answer is my manager but I don't know if this is a really cheeky request or not?! And don't want to put myself in an awkward position if I have to return. I know there's several nursery managers/owners on here so would like to get you're opinions, feel free to say it's cheeky 🤣

Not a nursery manager or worker even but your child will be filling a space, I don't see why you leaving would make her loose her place.

Is your nursery place subsidised due to you working there? That's the only issue I can see here. If you're paying full price it doesn't matter whether it's your child or someone else's.

If I was going back to work there then yes there would be a discount, but I would obviously expect/offer to pay full price if I chose to work elsewhere
