Nursery Found Inadequate - Funding?

Our local nursery has recently had an Ofsted inspection, which found it to be "inadequate" across the board. It received a fairly damning report. It has just been confirmed that it is no longer receiving government funding, resulting in a lot of parents being unable to afford childcare going forward.

Does anybody know if this also impacts the Tax Free Childcare option, as I'm assuming the reason for the 30 hours free funding being removed is that they are no longer an approved childcare provider? I can't find a clear answer online.

Thank you 😊

Tax free childcare and the funding are completely different things aren't they?

Yes they are, but I believe both are subsidised by the Government, so I wanted to be sure it wouldn't be impacted. I assumed the fact I couldn't find anything online meant they were treated as separate things, but who knows with childcare! It isn't always the most simple thing 😩

It won't be impacted.

It won't as long as a setting is Ofsted registered. The funding is only available through settings meeting the quality standards which this nursery isn't. They will be given an action plan and support by the LA and be reinspected in a few months. I'd want to know more about their failures.

Depending on the LA they don’t always remove the funding straight away, if parents want to move who receive funding the LA will act as a brokerage to find another nursery

hope this helps

Are you sure you want to keep your child there either way? Our nursery received an inadequate recently and within 6 weeks had completely turned it around (the issues were with management rather than anything to do with the children) and are now rated good. If it’s got to the point where funding is removed I’d be really worried about having my child there. I know it’s not always that easy with limited options. Childcare in the UK is the absolute worst.
