Do nurseries do a 2 year old check? Like a report? DD is just turned 3 and hasn't had one?

Yes, at my preschool it's the only piece of paperwork we absolutely have to fill out. I believe it's a statutory requirement.

When did she start at the nursery? If it was days before she turned 3 then they may have elected to not do one (even though they probably should have). If she's been there years then it's an issue, I'd query with the nursery.

Health visitor done ours

Yes, it's a legal requirement for all childcare settings to do one between 24 and 36 months.

It's different from the health visitors check, though in some areas they try to do them around the same time.

She started at 10months old and just turned 3 on Friday, last day of term, so 3 days ago. How long should I wait? I mean like is it reasonable for them to produce it in January,it should it have been done by now??

Yep absolutely should have been done. Do you have parent meetings? If so there's a chance they're waiting for that to go through it with you I suppose. Definitely query it as soon as they reopen though.

yes - we have parents meetings - I have had two so far. apparently there are some early next term. so maybe it will be done then. I'll ask if it is isn't

It's an Ofsted requirement shown in the EYFS as a must for all children aged 2 most do it to coincide with HV check ....this is the only child related paperwork Ofsted must see, not doing one is taken seriously....it has to be written. In our borough the LA suggests 2 years 3 months.

We will generally do them at 2.5yrs for children who have been with us since two or younger. We might not do them for a child who is new to us a few weeks before their 3rd birthday as a health visitor/previous nursery should have already done one.

Have you checked with your nursery if one has been done and you've just not been given it to see (although you should have done).

Yes it is one of the only EYFS legal development checks. It should be done and report given to the health visitor. The idea is that the nursery setting and health visitor work together to ensure there are no concern over well being and development. They should be done at around 2 and a half years. But covid has delayed some checks and some ate just a telephone call to parents asking if they have amy concerns. So in short the nursery should do a report for the HV
