Nursery vouchers etc

Am a bit confused as to how this works so would be grateful for any help: DS is 3 at the end of June. Am I right in thinking that he'll get nursery vouchers from September or will he get them to tide us over the summer.

Thanks for any info!

I think it is £250 a month but I have been told recently that it depends on how many miles you live from a state nursery and so on. I would like to find this out to so any info greatly received!

I think... (pretty confident i'm right) that they get vouchers from the first school term after they turn 3. So for example like my DS, he is 3 at end of august so gets them from the beginning of Sept (whenever the school term starts).

It is a minefield though.. basically they get 5 two and a half hour sessions paid for a week, if your DS is in a private nursery you will have to pay the top up if the session is more than 2.5 hours. And the sessions free are only for term time.

Have a look here...

Hope that helps a bit !

Have just looked on gov website & it says you don't get the vouchers until the next erm - which is a shame because I was wanting to avoid having to pay huge retainer over the summer hols (I'm a teacher). I didn't see how much it was though...
