Covid rules

Had covid last week now testing negative- great! DS 22 months always has sniffles yesterday I done a lateral flow with some of his snot on a clean tissue (gross I know) & it was positive, no surprise he's caught it off me.

My Q is when should he safely go back to nursery? rules say after 3 days of isolation as children are less infectious then adults. He was off me as usual on Fri & I suspect he would have been positive then if I'd tested, he positive test Sat so he can go back Tuesday? So should I wait until he gets a negative test to be on safe side? Last time that took 9 days!!

I don't want to be that parent spreading it around the nursery baby room but I'm panicking about work too as I've had quite a few leave days due to nursery sickness!

Keep him off as long as you can. If the staff catch it the whole room may have to shut as adults tend to get more poorly than children and be off longer. If he is poorly then keep off until better, but I'd say Weds/thurs is more likely to keep it from spreading.

Wed / Thurs is what I was thinking, 3 days seems a bit short to no longer be contagious- not that I want this to drag on any longer but don't want to be responsible for a room closing, I felt pretty rough last week & would hate to pass on! I will work from home today & tomorrow & see how he is Wed. Sigh. Naively thought we'd weren't going to get covid again!

I would clarify with your nursery as they may want him to be off longer etc
