Nursery fees universal credit

Hi,

I've just signed my daughter up to nursery, it's £600 a month for 2 half days.

I'm on universal credit, it says you can get up to 85% back, so I just want to know ruffy how much I will get back! How much do you all get back if your on universal credit? Even if you pay more than £600 I just want a ball park number. Is it really 85%

They won't tell me until i submit it then I just have to see what I'm given. Judy trying to make sure I can afford it.

Thanks x

Bump

Katapolts · 03/10/2022 09:32

It depends on how much you earn.
Try a benefits calculator like entitledto.co.uk.

womaninatightspot · 03/10/2022 09:32

It depends on your income but they don't tell how much income makes a difference. If it helps I'm on 18K and I get the full 85%

ihatesteve · 03/10/2022 11:26

How can it be £600 a month for 2 half days? Thats insane.

Manchestermummax3 · 03/10/2022 11:33

There is no limit to hours worked or earnings, as long as you're still entitled to UC, even if it's just a few pounds you'll get the 85% off.
Not sure how old your child is but if they are 2 & you relieve UC you'll be entitled to 15 hours funded also. So 2 half days would be covered by that & wouldn't need to pay the 15% at all.
I don't understand how 2 half days equals more than £600 though?

Agree. Our bill was double that at £1200 but we had a full time place Mon-Fri.

Fleur405 · 03/10/2022 11:37

That does sound like a LOT. we are £1,300 for a full time place.

This!

Are you sure those figures are correct. I appreciate nurseries are extortionate but there is no way a nursery is charging so much for half days.

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 03/10/2022 11:41

I wonder if it's 2 and a half days.

Not everyone on UC will get 2 year funding - your household income also has to be under about £15k.

She posted them on the same day and only had replies on one thread.

£600 is a crazy amount, DD does 2 full days p/w and we pay just under that, and that's for one of the 'pricier' nurseries in our area

tattychicken · 03/10/2022 12:18

Yes, poss 2.5 days like PP suggested.

Mammamia23 · 16/11/2022 16:35

depends where you are in the country. Where I am one day a week is £580 so 2 half days makes sense at £600 makes sense

Greeneyegirl · 16/11/2022 17:44

I worked out 2 full days at a nice nursery near us would be £600 a month!
