Nursery I’ve enrolled my child in apparently isn’t good - what to do?

I’m a FTM so still navigating what is best for my child, me and DH decided on a nursery for our baby who is joining at 9 months due to me going back to work then.

I didn’t ask anyone I knows advice as I didn’t really think to, I left it to me and my husbands decision. I mentioned the name of the nursery to two of my friends who both work in local nurseries and they both said that the one I’m at isn’t good - that staff have left to go to their nurseries due to being understaffed and that children have left to go to their nursery.

now I’m worried I’ve made a massive mistake - I’ve already paid a deposit so won’t get that back which I’m not too bothered about as my child’s safety and happiness is obviously more important.

I thought it looked nice and looking at reviews parents and children look happy. Looking round the children looked happy. ofsted is good.

do I just go ahead with what we initially decided and see how it goes or look at something else? I’m confused really.

Go ahead but make sure you call for pick ups at different times so you get a feel of how baby is settled

I think that’s good advice.

Yes I could do that. The nursery is rated as Good on the ofsted report, is that fine or should I be going for outstanding nurseries?

Out of interest why didn't you initially send your baby to one of the nurseries your friends work at? Honestly genuinely wondered not having a dig x

People never leave a job/nursery when they’re happy. That doesn’t mean it’s objectively bad. Just that it wasn’t right for those people. Some people thrive on stirring drama. I pulled DS1 out of the most oversubscribed nursery in the area and got him into a smaller one. It was oversubscribed because people raved about it. That wasn’t my experience. They gave the kids junk food and let them watch too much tv (this wasn’t UK). DS developed behaviour problems and came home with unexplained injuries. The old-fashioned nursery that no one recommended because of the dragony manager turned out to be far better for DS.

OP "outstanding" tends to mean they are good at doing the right things on their inspection.

Good can mean anything from adequate to outstanding for your individual child.

See how the nursery treats your child and their staff turnover.

If you visited the place and got a good feel for it yourself, try it.
Everyone leaves a job at some point, children have all sorts of reasons for changing nurseries.
I found it like looking for a house. You just know when you go to see it, others won't have the same taste.
Try it out, if no good then move.
But I will say it does take a couple of weeks for them to settle in, so if she cries for the first two weeks don't panic and think you've made the wrong decision.
My son adores his nursery he runs in now but he cried for 3 weeks going in.

Honestly? I didn’t think at all. I’m so exhausted I just didn’t think. I wish I did to be honest as she’s fantastic with babies and I’d love her to be my child’s key worker. My baby also settles with her.

Also my nursery is Good ofsted.
They've been nothing but amazing for my son.
