Toddler bitten five times in six weeks

Our 17month DS has came home from nursery after being bitten again today. It’s the second time in two days and the third time in two weeks. In total, since the end of May, he’s been bitten five times on his hands or arms, leaving red marks and bruises. Sometimes the educators see the event and we get an accident report, other times we just see the marks when we get home. I realise kids go through phases of biting and it’s ‘normal’ for some etc but I think this number of serious bites is too much to just let go. Nursery are pretty laissez faire about it but I know they have spoken to the parents of the child who has bitten him a few times as the parents inadvertently told me they’d received a report their child had bitten someone on the same day I got an accident report. I know there’s little that can really be done regarding the bitey child but what action should I be asking the nursery to take to help my son?

Check to see if the nursery is taking action and maybe keeping some kind of bite log. They might be able to see a pattern. Maybe it's always when the child is tired, or around a certain toy. I looked after a child who only bit blonde children.

These thing do happen, but that's not to say you can't mitigate the behaviour.
