Are nurseries going to let us in again soon?

So just as the title says. My two started nursery during covid and so I've always waited at the door for them to be brought out. Pre covid parents used to enter the nursery with a key code and pick their kids up inside.

This is very shallow and doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things but just wondering if this system is likely to come back? I like the idea of going in and seeing them playing with their friends.

We’ve been back in for about six months.

We've been back about three months but only to corridor. Still can't go in actual room. But not sure if that's a covid thing or too keep it clean and traffic flow

We've been back in since last summer, although with masks over winter. It is lovely to see them playing.

RicStar · 23/04/2022 13:59

We have also been allowed back inside for a long time - so there is no covid reason why not - was with masks at first, now masks very much optional /no one wears one.

We've only known collecting from the door so maybe it's just because it's all we've ever known but I can't see why we would need to go inside to collect them.

Maybe in another setting if they had a big waiting area it might make sense but ours is a long corridor leading to the rooms so we would all be very squashed if we waited indoors.

Our nursery is pretty relaxed but we're still outside so I suspect they've found it easier without a room full of parents at the start and end of the day and are going to continue as is for as long as they can. It was nice to get in the see the room and the other babies when our eldest was little but it's not the end of the world.

Thanks for input everyone. As there are no covid reasons it must be as @JenniferBarkley puts it that they're keeping it going for their own reasons. Oh well I'll satisfy myself with the pictures they put up on the app for now I suppose.

We have changed to drop off at door but pick up in the rooms. It's been lovely to be able to chat to parents properly again.

Bellaphant · 09/05/2022 07:19

In about February we could pick up outside but at the actual room door, instead of queueing all together at main door, but just over a month ago we've been allowed in the rooms. I think it actually makes it easier for staff this way

The thing that amused me is that my youngest has had her 'book' diary reintroduced, rather than her diary on individual sheets of paper.

We've been back in since Jan apart from one week later that month where there was a covid case so they temporarily went back to door drop-off/pick up. DD started in the summer of 2020 so we'd only known door drop-off/pick-up so it's been lovely to be able to go in at last and see the set up, watch her play and interact with her friends.

I think mine has found the door drop offs work better for the toddlers and decided to keep it that way. Same with the settling in sessions without parents.
