What to take to nursery

Hello, it's DS's (7m) first day at nursery tomorrow and they haven't provided a list of what to take so I'm wondering what I should pack other than:
Nappies
Wipes
Bottles and formula
Lunch
Coat
Change of clothes
Comforter

Anything I'm missing?

Do I need to send a bowl and utensils for lunch or will the provide it? What about a sleeping bag for naps?

With my little one they provided nappies, Wipes and all cutlery etc.
The bag had just a couple of changes of full clothes - vests, tops, trousers and sock. I would include nappy rash cream and either tell them to label and keep there or stays in bag. Bottle, formula and any comforter/dummies

Several changes of clothes, they can get veeeeeeery messy.

As you’re doing lunch, do they need snacks too?

At our nursery we don’t need to provide plates ect, but we do need to provide a cup for water as well as milk bottles.

We also don’t need to provide a sleeping bag, but my LO slept better with hers so I did.

It really will vary, so I think you’re best off asking. If they don’t respond (which is a bit crap), then turn up with the whole shebang on the first day and I’m sure they’ll soon tell you what they need.

Thanks! Yes I think I'll take everything just in case but want to make sure my 'everything' actually covers it all!

What about a bib for lunch? Any nurseries provide this?

Why aren't you asking nursery these questions?

WalkingOnSonshine · 09/03/2022 21:27

We send DS in with:

Nappies (6-8 per day)
Wipes
2 x full sets of clothes
All in one snow suit
Shoes (only since walking from 10 months)
Comforter - now stays at nursery permanently

Sent at 9-12 months but no longer:

Bottles x2
Frozen expressed milk
Dummy

They provide food, nappy cream, bibs, plates, sippy cup/drinks bottle etc.

Op, I mean this in a kind way, they absolutely should be providing you with this information. I am happy to share ours, for pre school. But everywhere is different, and at seven months they should be taking you step by step as to what is or is not needed.

For example waterproofs? Are they outside? Do they provide those? Some here do, some do not.

thebigpurpleone · 09/03/2022 21:30

Well since they haven't told you I'd pack everything including sleeping bag etc rather than wishing you had.

sofakingcool · 09/03/2022 21:31

I would check with nursery, but for tomorrow just take enough nappies etc for the day. It may be they have storage space for a pack, or maybe not. We use nappy wraps - one per child, enough room for 3 nappies, wipes and cream; we store extra nappies elsewhere.

Please label everything really clearly!

We wouldn't require utensils etc, just a water bottle / milk bottle if required

SpicyTomatos · 09/03/2022 21:35

Presumably you're just doing settling in for a short time in which case take what you would do normally when going out for a short time. Then when you are there ask what you need after the settling in period.

@AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps

Why aren't you asking nursery these questions?
Because he goes tomorrow and they aren't open right now! Yes, I'm that disorganised mum.

I’m a childminder and am really surprised you haven’t been given a list. My list is: nappies, wipes, nappy cream, a full spare set of clothes, milk and bottles, weather appropriate clothes (coat, hat, gloves, sun hat etc), a bottle of infant paracetamol, child’s comforter if required.
I’d also ask if you are able to leave stuff there (Eg big bag of nappies). I’ve known nurseries where you have to send a bag each day and others where they prefer you to leave supplies with them so they know you have everything.
