So Im from the united states but really enjoy reading this forum (and comparing the differences). I am really wondering about ratio. How many children per teacher are you allowed by age? In the states its:
0 - 2 years 1 teacher to 4 kids
2 - 2 1/2 years 1 teacher to 6 kids
2 1/2 - 3 years 1 teacher to 8 kids
3 years 1 teacher to 10 kids
4 years 1 teacher to 13 kids
5 years 1 teacher to 17 kids
6 years and older 1 teacher to 18 kids

So what are the numbers for your nurseries?

Under 2 1 adult to 3 children
2-4 is 1 to 4 children
3- 4 years old is 1-8 unless there is a qualified teacher in the room, when it can be 1 to 13.

I think your system of 8, 2.5 year olds sounds very difficult.

They start school at 4 and u think its 1 teacher to 30 children, but most, if not all, have a teaching assistant in the class too.

I'm never getting a job over there! I thought ours was a bit high. I think there should be a room maximum as well.

In the us, the room limit is two teachers so 8 babies, 16 toddles....
8 kids at 2.5 are a real handful. Its hard when you get kids wanting to do different things, in different areas that all require help! The weird thing is, in the us, each STATE makes its own ratio rules!
