When should nurseries call parents?

Hello, wanted an opinion on this. Picked dd (16 mths) up from nursery yesterday to fund her nose was swollen and grazed and still bleeding from a "bump" she's had in the garden three hours earlier. It was still swollen etc this morning but she's OK and I know that accidents do happen etc. But I do wish they had called me up to let me know - what would you expect the nursery to do?

This is all a bit academic as it's dd's last day today, but it's really irritating me. I was upset when I saw her and wished I'd been rung up, if only to let me know and say she's OK.

Bearing in mind this is the nursery who have in the past rung me out from work to collect dd (when she had a few spots after MMR) and ds (with a heat rash ), I do find it a bit odd. Staff in dd's room said they had told manager and were surprised she hadn't called me.

Go on, tell me I'm being silly, please!!! I think I've lost all perspective with nursery now but wanted to leave on a relatively good note.

if the nursery called me everytime dds had a bump it would be daily

i assume there is a first aider at the nursery - if so im sure they dealt with it professionally and didnt think it ws necesary to call you

but theres no point ringing u to say shes ok is there? thats the point oif in loco parentis u wud go mad if they rang u all the time

omg if they rang me everytime my ds's have a bump or scrape I'd never get anything done! I do think rashes and spots are different though when it comes to ringing parents.

We have to sign the accident book nearly every day for either or both of our two. And again on a Monday morning to say that all the new lumps and bumps were done at home over the weekend.

hmmm. you are right, like I said I think I'm losing all sense of perspective atm!!!

and I am generally quite a laid-back parent, and I know they are always bashing and bumping themselves, so not usually as uptight, honest. didn't even panic when stairgate at top of stairs gave way and ds then aged 2.5 came "surfing" down on it at midnight
