Utterly had enough, 10 month old at nursery 1 1/2 days a week and not a single week goes by where he's not poorly it really is just beyond a joke now, he goes Friday mornings and we spend all weekend with him poorly sometimes it's been so poorly he's missed numerous other days of nursery, others it will just affect the following days, we've had it where both myself and other half been violently ill sick/ sh**s I'm just utterly fed up. Is this really the norm to be this poorly all the time, please tell me there's an end in sight and if anyone's got any tips please share - desperate woman in need of sleep and happy baby!!

Your baby will become immune to some things and will get ill less often. I found the first few months my DC picked up EVERYTHING and then it settled down to your normal once couple of months/ few months. Hang in there, it gets better.

It’s the norm here and DD is 2.
It’s extra bad at the moment for respiratory illnesses in nurseries, we usually get 1-2 weeks between each virus. DD had to have 1-2 Covid tests every month.

The good news is though that by the time they’re at school they’ll be very robust!

I should gave shares in bloody Calpol plugins though.

Thanks for the responses, it's just so hard paying all that money and him not going and the weekends are spent looking after the little one it just got me so down forever driving to doctors or covid tests etc I know this is part of parcel of being a parent It's just been tough going recently and it's really getting me down now

How long have they been there? It took DD around 4/5 months before she stopped being ill constantly, it was over winter too which didn't help things. She's been there a year now and it's so much better, she's had maybe 2 bugs in the last 7 or 8 months. Stick with it, it's awful to begin with but it does get better!

My granddaughter has had high temperatures, over 39 c ,chesty and just really unwell since January when she started nursery. Am not exaggerating if every 2weeks she is unwell! High temperature, floppy and dry nappies I have been worried that she has problem with her immunity and needs an assessment with a paediatrician .it’s hard to know because GP are so hard to actually…god forbid see their patients!!

Megan2018 · 12/09/2021 00:09

DD goes 4 days a week, in a year she has been at home 1/4 of her total days. It’s good we have understanding employers as we’d be unemployed pretty quickly.
It’s got worse rather than better here so I’m not that optimistic for winter. I’m hoping 3+ will be better!

I sent my third to an excellent childminder instead, less illness, more naturally spaced. Plus a more normal early childhood experience.

If you haven't already, add extra vitamin c and d into their diet. My 20 month old is getting some bugs since he started but he gets over them very quickly and very mild illness. I've been giving him daily doses of children's vitamin d & c and I think it helps.
