Birthday etiquette

My son will be 11 months when starting. I just wondered what you are supposed to do when your child has a birthday as he will be turning 1 a month after starting. Am I supposed to take in cakes or biscuits? Party bags? Something for the key workers? Is this not a thing? I'm from a different culture and a FTM so I don't know what the norm/expectation is.

It might vary from nursery to nursery but at my sons they sang him happy birthday and I took in shop cupcakes or cake (they prefer it from a shop for allergy / ingredients information) and they gave all the kids in his room a bit of cake

I've worked in many nurseries and normally you take in a cake for the children in your child's room to have a slice. Obviously make sure there is enough for the staff! Smile

As s/he is very little it's up to you to take in chocolate buttons or similar for them to take home ( the children).

Depends on the nursery, they will have their own rules.

Depends on the nursery, give them a ring an ask, they won’t mind in the slightest.
At my children’s we take in a boxed cake/cupcakes so they can see the allergy ingredients, but I did double check before I was buying of any allergies needed to be catered for just in case as I wouldn’t one missing out.

You could always do a cake. Buy one from a supermarket or bakery and take it in.
