Son left nursery today, and I am a little annoyed

My 3yo left nursery today to move to the school preschool.
Hes been there 4 days a week for over 2 years and I've spent just over £1000 a month on fees.
Their lack of communication has been pretty bad but since covid it has been terrible. I haven't had a clue who his key worker is from 1 week to the next etc.
Different staff bring him out daily. He's been really unsettled since Jan and getting very upset about going which is the main reason we have pulled him.
I had a meeting with the manager a few months back who acknowledged things haven't been at their usual standard and assured me it would get better but didn't.
Today was his final day.
We took gifts in for the staff and children. I had requested this morning that all his stuff for new preschool would be emailed to me today.
I collected him tonight and his key worker didn't even come out, one of the apprentices did with a pack. I got home to find it was pretty much all the paperwork I sent in when he was a baby. Hardly anything about him apart from a report his key worker did last week with all the 'Secure' and 'emerging' comments but not a single note on him, as in the back page where it talks about him was totally empty.
I've had not a single piece of artwork sent home since covid and was expecting that to be In there. Again, nothing. I rang the nursery and the manager said "oh sorry. I'll see if the girls can find any if his work lying about and if we do we will email you to collect it".
Aibu to think this is all just a bit of a crappy end to his nursery life or was I expecting too much!?

Ours have always had a learning journey folder which was given to us as they left. Maybe ask specifically if they have one?

Zorinindustries · 29/08/2021 10:20

Most learning journey folders are done online these days, so parents get regular updates, and there is nothing to hand over when leaving.

Having never worked in a day Nursery, I've no idea what they do.
I did however work in a pre school.
We did use something similar to tapestry, but when the children left the setting, we sent home a little "booklet" with pieces of the child's pairings/drawings/work in it..

Thank you for the responses. The Learning Journey app they used hasn't been updated since April. Most of the updates on there were relating to the whole group eg. 'We have had a fab day at forest school today, the children enjoyed singing and collecting leaves" etc.
I foolishly thought more would be in this pack we got at the end but all that was given was the forms gave when we registered him as a baby and then a print out of what was on the app (ie. barely anything).
And I have raised this lack of communication numerous times with the manager and been told that they will ask the girls to post more - nothing ever happens. It was part of my reasoning for pulling him out.
I feel gutted that we didn't get more more he honest. He has been there for most of his life. When my older ds left a previous nursery we felt a lot more valued.
I didnt expect any gifts, to clarify this point. Or a card. I just wouldn't have thought it was too much to expect his key worker to come and say goodbye.

I clean a nursery, the staff and children are never there when I clean but I love looking at all the photos and artwork on the walls.
Today I had extra boxes to Hoover round, folders interspersed with gift wrapped books (by the looks of them.) The folders were thick with crinkly art work and I had a little smile to myself that another cohort of kids are off on their next adventures. It is a big deal and I think it’s an opportunity for the nursery to demonstrate its professionalism and care.

That was piss poor service.
No point giving them any more headspace though...
