Moving from nursery to childminder

DD(2) was going to a fantastic nursery since she was a year old. Due to a house move we’ve had to change to a local nursery. As there are huge waiting lists in the popular ones we chose a known chain which had spaces - although significantly more expensive than the previous one we had. I’m now not happy at all with the management and communication by the office staff. I can never get any reply to emails unless I chase a few times, wrong invoices, no updates on the app we have logins for, no personal interaction with the parents and it is a bit of a drive. DD is happy there as the girls in the room are lovely and affectionate so that’s something positive. I’m looking at local childminders as an alternative and have also put her on a waitlist at another nursery. I would like a nursery setting from when she’s 3 as my other child benefitted massively from a nursery setting. Will half a day at a preschool be a good compromise should a childminder be able to pick and drop from there? I’m feeling stressed at the thought of moving her to a new setting but can’t really see things getting better at her current setting. Any experiences/suggestions are welcome.

A half-day at pre-school will be plenty at 3. You just need a really good childminder (easier said than done I know). I suspect what your older child benefitted from was good childcare (that happened to be a nursery). I think you'd have seen similar positive outcomes with a good childminder or nanny as well.
