Yes you can just ring ofsted .

luckylady74 · 22/11/2007 23:12

hi, you need to use full stops - much as i loathe punctuation it is necessary! if you are concerned try ringing ofsted - they could advise you on whether the ratio is appropriate. did you mention it to the manager of just the carer in the room?

DynamicKermitsNanny · 23/11/2007 11:35

I recently called OFSED regarding a nursery I was working at - they just listen and they might pop in to discuss their poliies etc.

Are you saying that

  • your DC is 18 months
  • he is in the second room at nursery (15 months - 30 months)
  • last time you took him in there were eight children including him but one member of staff in the room and one in the kitchen (I assume you mean one member of staff who would normally be in the room was temporarily in the kitchen?)
  • you are concerned about the staff ratio and considering not leaving him if there aren't enough staff
  • you are wondering about calling OFSTED
DynamicKermitsNanny · 23/11/2007 12:01

I just cottoned o their should be 3 members of staff in the room if they have more than 6 children (due to the staff ration being 1:3 for the 15-24 month olds and 1:4 for the 2 - 2.5 year olds)

bossybritches · 23/11/2007 12:09

Always 1:3 & if a staff member has to leave the room they should have cover.

I would mention it to the manager first.
