2 year old funded hours

Hi all - apologies if there has been a million threads to do with funded hours.
My DD has just had 15 hours funded hours approved as she is known to the LA as we had to flee domestic violence and she was on a child in need plan.
Do they make a significant difference to your monthly invoice? she goes to nursery full time as I work full time (I earn a low wage) so I expect a bit of a difference. I know Nurseries can charge for food and nappies etc in place of the funded hours.

Hi, you will get the funded hours and then be charged for any hours over the 15 you use. 2 year funded payment rates are usually higher to the provider than 3/4 year old and for that reason most providers then don’t charge extra for the funded hours. If you are getting help to pay for Childcare from Universal credit, tax free childcare schemes etc will lose the help for those 15 funded hours. I know many parents after working out finances they are better not accepting the 2 year old funding and keeping the existing benefits.

@Apple40 thank you.
So you can't claim universal credit and 15 hours funded at the same time??
I know parents who claim the 30 hours and universal credit?

You can claim universal credit. It’s the childcare help part of it you can only claim for any hours over the 15 funded you are using. Sorry for confusing you .
