What size backpack for nursery!?

May be a silly question. My 10 month ole will be starting nursery in a couple of weeks. I need to get him a backpack to carry his things in.
Can I get a child’s backpack or will he need something bigger like changing bag size!? What will he be takin backwards and forwards every day? I don’t want to get a lovely child’s bag if it’s not practical and he ends up with it bursting at the seams!!

You will probs only need a little one, in ours they have a spare change of clothes, sun hat, sun cream and when they were little we took a little bottle of ready made formula in there as nursery didn't supply that. It all folds up very small and mainly gets left at nursery unless any clothes swaps required.

Most kids at our nursery have children's ones. We started off with a small one then sized up (but still a child's one) when he started potty training, for the change of clothes.

I would just get a little drawstring type bag which wont take up much space and will fit in a change of clothes, suncream etc.
If they ask you to provide nappies I suppose you might need a bigger bag in order to keep those in?

Small and cheap.

Do the nursery supply nappies and wipes and milk? Or do you need to send that in?

We used these from Decathlon for our two (and still use the for the odd day out)

I used an adult sized Rucksack when dd was still in nappies as she was there for long days, so needed 2 changed of clothes (lots of outdoor play), nappies, wipes, lunchbox. I changed to a child's bag when she was reliably potty trained and didn't need so much stuff

Looneytune253 · 17/08/2020 08:53

It depends what you need to send in really. Some places will store your milk and nappies so would only need to send a cpl of changes of clothes

Thank you everyone. I will double check when he has his taster sessions next week but think I can send supplies of nappies and wipes and then they let me know when they’re running low to send more in.
I’ll send some expressed milk in for him ok the chance he may take it but he refuses expressed milk in bottle or beaker currently. Has done since 3 months old!x

@kitkatastrophe my nursery doesn't allow drawstring bags.

Orangedaisy · 17/08/2020 09:01

I just used an old canvas bag for life (one of the ones you get free) as it was easily washed. It sits on a peg, doesn’t need to be fancy. No drawstring or plastic bags allowed at our nursery.

Get a medium sized bag, not one of them tiny ones (very cute but not practical) because once they start having outfits changes etc the bag will be bulging.
