Thanks for posting this as my nursery has been demanding we pay at 80% discounted fee to cover their overheads. I am still working but my partner's contract ended in March.

smeerf · 13/05/2020 12:52

That's terrible! We paid 20% in April and 10% in May. I bet they're taking advantage of the furlough scheme as well.

Imohsotired · 13/05/2020 12:56

Thanks for this. We have 20% and it still adds up for two kids full time.

I'm really hoping that the furlough scheme is not allowing companies to claim who receive eg 30 hours funding; parents still paying full fees etc - that would be outrageous as it would be increasing the profit they already make!

@roses2 no nurserys can not get both funding money and furlough pay, it depends on how much funded money they get. if funding Is 100 % revenue source they will not get any furlough money, if it covers 50% of income then they get they extra 30%. Etc The trouble is the funding rates paid to nursery etc does not even cover cost of care they provide let alone paying for rent, bills etc. Sadly there is going to be a lot childcare providers close down in the coming months as they have gone bust
