I need to recruit a 'superwoman' to help me set up my nursery......How?

OK - it's complicated but
I don't have the Early Years Experience to be responsible for this at the new nursery.

The lady I was going to employ as my deputy has had a bereavment and is unable to committ to the extra work involved in setting up the nursery

I need to advertise, recruit and work with someone from about January to get the nursery set up - it's not physically possible for me to do it all and I think having someone else on board in the earlier stages will be useful/helpful as it means I won't get my own way all the time.

So how do I do this?
Where do I advertise (council webiste/jobcentre)
How do I work out how much to pay?
Do I advertise saying I want a January start?

I am really clueless and want someone who will help me - I have had staff who were more work than they did

Any suggestions or help appreciated

Yep that was the council website I mentioned

I am very nervous about taking someone on - I had built a lovely relationship with my intended deputy and I am upset to have lost her (tho' sympathising and being very concerned about her)

Katymac- can't find a Mary Poppins for you, but if it's not too late maygbe I can help?

I set up my own nursery 7 years ago & I reckon we've just about had every staffing/official/OFSTED problem you can think of! (cue the thunderbolt )

Happy to share my experiences, not saying I have all the answers but I might be able to point you in the right direction!

Good Luck

Hmm ? what is my eco-nursery? Where am I at with developing it?

Well I am a childminding manager atm (which means I manage 3 other childminders in a group practice) OFSTED have said that this will ?cover? me for my ?at least 2 yrs of daycare experience? but not for the Early Education part.

I am trying to convert a modern agricultural barn into my nursery. I want to use green (eco/sustainable) techniques and systems to make it liveable.

While running the nursery I will use sustainable supplies and would be keen to use reusable nappies & wipes.

I will be having a large outdoor area, with vegetable beds, chickens, a human sundial and a sensory garden surrounded with either a hedgerow or living willow fence.

I?m sure other people will advise me on the things I will be having that I have forgotten to mention.

Gringotts see your thread.

Katymac I had to smile you sound just like I did 7 years ago!! I was going to be totally green & organic but it ain't easy. (although I have to admit it's easier now as people in genral are more green & it's getting more cost effective) The bottom line is cost. If you can build your expenses into your fees & the clients in your area are prepared to pay for the quaity of service you will offer then great go for it!

We are in a converted barn in a rural village & have a veggie patch but no chickens (OFSTED not keen but it depends on your inspector)

I shall be in touch, must go to bned the typos are getting worse, I've been trying to make this coherent for at leat 10 mins!!
