Hi all,

I'd love to hear from anyone who works with toddlers in a nursery about what kinds of behaviour from a child would make you worried about their development? I'm especially interested in age 18-30 months.

What's normal for settling? Transitioning between activities? Sleeping? Interacting with other children? Language development?

I know there is a whole range of 'normal' when it comes to behaviour but I'd love to know if there is anything you look out for or know from experience might be something to worry about?

Almost everything is normal at that age! What are your concerns?

With toddlers everything is normal behaviour to some extent
I would be concerned if an older child was still behaving like a toddler

It’s easier if you say why you might have concerns. There is a wide range of behaviour that is ‘normal’ in that range. Some children are chatting at age two, others won’t say much until age three, for example.

There's a whole raft of things that would raise concerns.
Usually, any one, on its own, could be something to pay a bit more attention to, or to work upon a bit more. It becomes more worrying when there is a whole list of things.

Often, it is 'instinct' if you like - might be better called 'experience'.

As others have said, it would make more sense to let us know what the concerns are.
