Ofsted suspended nursery!

I have just received a letter telling me that the nursery DD1 attended until very recently has been suspended by Ofsted due to something like "information that suggests the owner may be unsuitable to care for children". Freaked me out a bit as, although DD1 has now left as she will start school in September she was there for quite a while and I thought it was fab; I was hoping DD2 would go there in due course.
Has this happened to anyone else? What is likely to be the problem(assuming owner is not a paedophile...) and is there any way I can find out???

I suppose the owner could have some sort of criminal record that was previously unknown.
You could try phoning the ofsted helpline.

Yeah; maybe, but the nursery's been established for donkeys years; the letter said they couldn't give nay more information as they are investigating; I guess we'll have to wait & nse... if it's anything scandalous I guess it will be in the local paper before long...

Absolutely, we are very lucky.Sort of. When I find out what it's all about I reserve the right to retract that!

yes quite!

Remember it only takes one serious complaint, which may be true, a mistake on the parents behalf, or vindictiveness which can lead to suspension or worse. I had a complaint at a nursery, was suspended for over a month with no clue (I thought my life was over) found the parents had complained because the four year old had a bubble land in her hair, and I had said the two year old did it! It was meant in fun, little girl giggled and we got on with the evening. So it may be nothing.

How awful for you! Do you think the parents had a clue what would happen? There are some very strange people in the world....

I dont know, I just felt so bad I really though I'd hurt a child accidentally or something horrific, just proves to me employer put guests over staff member. I'd been there almost 5 years! I had to get a lawyer and everything. Quit last year, which is why I'm now a nanny.

we had a complaint once, ofsted just turned up to investigate. The complaint was unfounded, we believe it was a bit of industrial espionage...

if there has been a complaint then you can ask to see the complaints book.

get one of the existing parents to ask to see it.
