Early Years Funding - Question

DS' nursery are changing the way they manage the government funding for nursery places.

Up til now this has been deducted from our bill but now it is going to be "paid back" to us in the form of a cheque each half term.

can anyone tell me does the amount from teh Govt vary depending on the cost of the childcare provider, or is it a fixed amount?

I think it's a fixed amount. Worked out on x amount of hours a week paid at x. Sorry to be so very vague. I'm currently using the same thing but like you're original bills, mine just gets deducted.

Mmm. Basically DS goes to nursery 5 hours/day, so during term time, I only pay for 2.5 hours.

I am therefore assuming that I will get refunded the same amount (cost of morning session divided by 2)

But, if different nurseries / childminders charge different amounts, does it mean the Govt pay whatever the nursery charges, or do they pay a fixed rate and the nursery eitehr lose or gain (or work their fees out to avoid either)

What i really want to know is, will I get refunded the same amount as I am deducted?

There is a fixed amount per session. That is what you will get back. 7.95 for us ATM. Up to 5 sessions per week.
