How frequently does your nursery post updates in its online system?

Hi! It doesn't feel like my daughter's nursery shares very much information about what she has been doing and any progress towards steps in the Early Years Foundation framework. How often does your child's key worker post information? How often are photos shared? I receive verbal feedback (if I ask) every day, but it's only at a level of what/how much she ate and whether she slept. (DD is 2.5). Thanks.

Barely ever - once every few months? My 4yo is old enough to tell me though. For the younger one I’m given a sheet saying what they’ve eaten/ nappies etc but very little about what they actually do/ behaviour etc. I’ve heard them talking to other parents about behaviour at pick up though so I’m sure they’d say if they were worried about anything

Once every 4 weeks when it's their focus week, then I will get some photos/videos through with information on their progress. Also get quarterly reports.
The photos/videos were much more frequent when dd1 started there, which I preferred.
We get a daily report on eating/sleeping/nappies and a general post on what is going on in the room that day.

Online system?

We don't get told ANYTHING about what they're doing. Nothing at all we're just given child in a busy doorway and that's it.

Approximately one observation per week for a part time child and 2 for a full time child. Obviously if we observe any other outstanding places of learning, then there may be additional observations. In addition, the teacher quite often puts a set of photos up to show an opportunity that has been accessed by the children, e.g. forest school, PE in the hall.

I work in nurseries.
We aim for a long observation for each child each month and then there are snapshot moments & pictures uploaded in between.
Assessment/progress report every 3 months.
And a daily diary sheet for babies/toddlers then verbal feedback on collection for older children.

I would say there are usually 2 posts a week, but they don't necessarily come up in real time. It's usually the manager updating things late on a Friday or over the weekend. Realistically, I don't want them stuck on a tablet all day ignoring my dc. If I wanted him to be ignored for someone on a screen, I'd just keep him home with me while I work and I could ignore him for free. I think seeing something posted about weekly would be the norm (it might be 2 entries or more), but sometimes it can go 2-3 weeks and then we get a flurry of them when they have time to do the data entry. I don't need more than that really. I don't even ask about what he's eaten or how he's slept as I assume it's fine, unless they bring any concerns to me.

In my nursery we always give feedback when parents come to get there children each day and meal feed back and what activities they have done for that day and do all of obs on line and pic so that parents can log in and see what progress they child at and we alway have a little chat at the end of the day with parents we do obs every week and send them to you the parents so they can see what they're child be doing Smile
