30 hours funding and Supply Teaching

I’m a supply teacher and am quite busy so have so far qualified for 30 hours funding for my daughter (she only does 20 though). I’ve just spoken to the government childcare people who have told me that I have to earn the minimum qualifying amount over the three month period and it can’t be taken over the whole tax year. This has left me thinking I’m not going to be eligible in May/June when I apply as I won’t earn anything from mid July until September? I’ve heard there is a ‘grace period’ if you have been claiming and then can’t but am unsure with how this works. Also, there’s a chance I may eat enough so if I ticked this option, what would happen if I then didn’t?? Has anyone had any experience of this? I feel a bit hard done by that because I won’t earn in the holidays, I can’t get my 30 hours for the whole 3 months even though she wouldn’t go in the holidays anyway?!

I just saw your post... if so I am stuffed. I work term time only and am self employed.. effectively I have three pay days a year, once a term!

Ok just had a look at the guidance. If you are self employed you are allowed to take an average over the year so I am ok... worth clarifying if you are self employed? Bearing in mind you can turn down work/you can work in several sites...

I’m definitely not self employed unfortunately! I’ve now emailed our local childcare team about it and so when I hear back, will post again x
