Parents in the toileting area

Hi!
Not sure if I'm over thinking this-
At my DD's nursery the nappy changing area with changing table, potties and toilets is open plan to the main room, but sideways with a small screen where nappy changes are.
Today at pick up my DD needed the toilet so I went with her, not thinking much of it and no one said anything about me going to the toileting area unaccompanied by a member of staff. A member of staff came over and put another child on a potty next to me and started changing a nappy on the changing table in full view of myself.
Thinking about it that despite being a parent is this a bit strange that they allow parents there whilst they are doing the intimate care on another child? This is our first nursery so not sure what's normal or not.
There was also no toilet paper in any of the cubicles so I'm glad I did go with her!

At the nursery my children went to parents weren't allowed into the toilets/ nappy change area unless they had checked no other children were in there. They had lovely little toilets designed for small children and encouraged them to go as independently as possible, so parents didn't usually need to help. I would read their safeguarding policy and raise this with them.

I wouldn't read too much into the fact you weren't challenged this time, but equally I agree you shouldn't just be wandering in.

Complaining that they didn't challenge you seems a bit OTT in my view. Just ask a member of staff next time.

Sorry I wasn't complaining- I just wasn't sure whether it was normal or not. I've been down to the area multiple times as DD is very recently trained and the toilet cubicles are locked so children can't just go in them without an adult around. Her key worker is usually nearby however yesterday had to stay in the area she was in and there was no other member of staff available to accompany if that makes sense! I have read all their policies and didn't find anything
