AIBU to be worried about grass in babies nappy

Grass in his nappy - that had been swallowed and through his digestive system! I would like to think he would not be unsupervised at nursery for long enough to manage to eat any grass. There is a baby garden at the nursery and he hasn't been on any other grass for weeks, so it's definitely happened whist in their care.

I worry he could have also eaten some soil as he's had an awful bout of vomiting and diarrhoea since :-(

What would you do - am I over reacting to think it is really bad and make a complaint!?

I think you can only speak with them about your concerns, but ultimately babies don’t get one to one supervision at nursery so I don’t know how how you could avoid it in the future in that setting.

Clearly the environment should be ‘baby friendly’ and safe.

I wouldn't be stressing about it. I've turned my back for 2 seconds while my 4 month old was lying on a picnic rug in the garden and turned back around to him trying to eat a mouthful of grass. They obviously aren't intentionally letting him and there's no way to know if that's where it came from anyway (mine also picks up bits of grass from the carpet in our house that must have come in on someone's feet, even though we don't even wear shoes in the house). But a little bit of grass or dirt really isn't going to do much harm. They'll pick up much worse stuff off shared nursery toys.

trust me, they will eat much, MUCH worse, and on your watch too.....

There are three babies for every adult, and adults also have to change nappies, prepare snacks, put babies to bed, clear up etc etc. I think you just have to accept there won't be adult eyes on them all the time.
They will all eat some grass/mud/sand at some point!
