Splitting free 30 hours of childcare - anyone done this?

DS goes to an amazing nursery for 2 days a week (19 hours in total). He is 3 so entitled to the 30 free hours however the nursery cannot afford to offer more than 15.
I need to increase his hours of childcare soon (due to changes to my work pattern) so wondered about using the other 15 hours either at a local school nursery or a playgroup for something like 2 or 3 mornings a week. I know that it is possible to dothis but am a little worried it'll be confusing for DS.

Has anyone here split childcare between nurseries, and how did your kid manage?

Lots of people split between nursery and childminder.

Oh and I also thought perhaps if he was to attend a nursery in the school he is likely to go to in September 2019 then at least it might help him later on in settling in to the school, so perhaps that could help ease my guilt a bit?

Yes. In sept I will split between school nursery who only offer 25 hours and then claim the other amount at the private nursery (who do pick ups and drop offs for school nursery).

I'm a cm and split with school its nice because we have time to do some one to one work and lo is getting much more chance to do things that we have found interesting on the way home its a change of atmosphere and they learn in a totally different way if she wants to do a 24 peace puzzle we can were not stuck to rigid age defined resources. The school have commented on how well little one is able to self dress and write their name, but they don't do reading yet which is a shame as we have started already and she hs to wait to reception at school but loves reading.
