Scratches from nursery

Hi

My 11 month old daughter came home from nursery yesterday with a large scratch on her leg, it was at the top of the thigh and curved around her leg following the line of her nappy but about a cm lower than her nappy. The scratch was raised and deep enough to have bled a little.

When my husband dropped her off today he just asked if they knew how it happened, he said they knew nothing about it and were a bit funny with him.

I collected her from nursery today and she has a matching scratch on the other leg.

Do you think this is something to be worried about? Should I ask at nursery about it again?

Sounds like something she's playing on? Ask them to keep a close eye on her, to see what it could be.

Do they have baby walkers?Something scratchy on the nappy table?

I would ask room supervisor or nursery manager to investigate what has caused this. Surely they have spotted it at nappy changes? I know at the nursery I worked at we had to report unexplained injuries to the room supervisor. They have to record any incidents and injuries so they need to know whats caused it. Don't be afraid to kick up a bit of a fuss if they keep brushing it off.

Were they outside at all? Tree/branch scratch? Do ask them to keep an eye out.

Thanks everyone, she’s recently started climbing on everything so she probably has caught it on something, and I know things like this happen all the time with kids. However I was a bit concerned that the same thing happened twice in two days. I think I will call the nursery on Monday and ask them to keep an eye on it, I don’t want to bring it up again be the unreasonable pushy parent but your right they should have at least noticed the scratches when they changed her.
