First day at nursury, feeling a bit [sad]

Well I have just started working 3 days a week instead of 2 and have just dropped dd (12 months) off at nursery (she has one day at each nanna's for the other two days) for the first time. Her two settling in sessions were great, she didn't bat an eyelid when I left her. However when I dropped her off this morning she held her arms out to me and cried. She rarely does this and is not a clingly baby - she happily waves me off from her grandma's. I know that it was all a bit new and strange and she hadn't had her breakfast so was probably getting a bit hungry but I felt awful leaving her there. I wanted to stay but knew I just had to go really.

Anyway, I am sitting here on my own (I work for mysself), on my hands trying to stop myself from ringing to see how she is. Should I?

Ring if you want to - it'll put your mind at ease as I'm sure she's settled well now she's had her breakfast.

No - hold off. She is in safe hands. I know that it is really really hard but she will be OK. And so will you. Try to do some work to take your mind off things.

She'll be fine and the nursery will ring if there's a prob. Give them a quick call during your lunch hour. It does get easier.

ring if you want and i bet the nursery will say she is having a great time! It is hard - my DS started nursery at 6 months when i went back to work and i felt very peculiar. He has a fab time - he has been known to cry when i go to pick him up

Ring - let them tell you she is fine and then do some bloomin work - or there is no point her being there.

GColdtimer · 09/05/2007 09:05

that's tough waswondering. I hope it goes OK for you. How many days are you going back for?

lol twentypence, you are absolutely right. No bloomin point at all if I don't get any work done

Thanks for asking. It was fine actually. She even slept there for 40 minutes which I was amazed at. I know she must have been happy to do that.

How was it for you today?
